Christmas 2015

Greetings Port Gardner Church and Friends,

Kathleen and I would like to wish you a wonderful Christmas this year. We want to thank you so much for your friendship as brothers and sisters in Christ.

God has indeed blessed us as we continue to serve Him together as His Church and as part of His Kingdom. We pray that as you celebrate together with family and friends, you ponder the great Love of our God for us … His people.

Know that Christmas is not just the celebration of a baby, but of the totality of the person and work of our savior, Jesus Christ. Who came to earth, suffered, died and rose again to atone for our sin and rebellion against God Himself. There is a great seriousness to this Advent of God into our lives. That seriousness is joined with great joy as well. For Christ did not come to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

I encourage you to celebrate well this year. Family situations can be difficult and trying on our patience and faith. Know that God is aware and is with you at every turn. His Holy Spirit will guide you and give you strength to show love and compassion for all people. I encourage you to be present with all people you come in contact with. Listen and be attentive to their life, circumstances and needs. Serve all people with gladness of heart and no expectation of service in return. And I pray that you will have the opportunity to share the hope that we have in Christ with those in your company. I pray that God gives you opportunities to speak words of salvation and comfort to those in need of the saving grace of Christ. The gospel is good news. Avoid judgmental attitudes and statements and focus on the beauty of God’s love for people. Words matter, and the only way the gospel is clearly communicated is through words. Deeds matter as well, but remember that we are not THE example. Christ is the example. Christ is the savior. Christ is the word of truth. We are but a waypoint in the journey. Use your actions and words to point to Christ for we are not the ones that save … It is only the person and work of Jesus Christ that can ever save anyone. Trust that He will make a way for those that you love, to hear and understand the gospel.

[1] There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. [3] For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, [4] in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.   Romans 8:1-4

I thank God for you all in the fraternity of grace afforded us by the one and only Almighty God. I thank God for your diligence in service to the one that has snatched His people from sin and death and translated into His glorious light. I praise God for you and I thank you for your friendship held together by the bond of Christ.

Merry, Merry Christmas and may God be praised!
